I need to get to Las Vegas by Tues., Jan. 8th. My brother is having open heart surgery. There’s a 30% chance
Airline Ticketsmargierosie1026 asked:
he may not make it through the surgery. I have gone through the most popular airlines for a good deal. I am trying to get better than a $260 flight. I don’t have more than $150 to spend. Any ideas from anyone?

Call the airlines and explain your situation is your best bet

Have you looked into taking a train ? Bus ? How about just a one way ticket.. unless you know already you have to be back by a certain date?

Southwest Airlines is advertising something like a $99 deal

$260 is actually a good deal. Good luck, man.

I totally agree with the first answer. Sometimes they can give you emergemcy discounts. If not have you tried hotwire.com ot orbitz.com?

call a few airlines and ask about a special rate for medical emergancies.
I know they do this for deaths.

Try, (aggregators), cheapoair.com and, definitely,. You might also be able to find a last minute deal on Hotwire or Priceline.

Some airlines will book you standby for a flight - but there are no guarantees. Try to call the airlines. Fly the least traveled flights (early/early am, midnight, whatever you can get). There are a few last minute web sites - kayak.com, that one that Shatner pushes (they don’t tell you the details until you book - priceline.com). Call the airlines, though. Sometimes they’ll help you out.

Where are you coming from?
Also
You can always try priceline.com You can name your own price and if an airline accepts it, it will resolve your issue.
One thing about priceline. You CANNOT pick the time of day for your flight. If you can work around that issue, then that may be your best option if you can’t find cheaper flights.
Also…..
travelocity, expedia, orbitz DONT carry many of the smaller carriers. Check your local airports and try to find which smaller carriers fly from that location and go directly to their websites. Sometimes you can get the best prices. As an example, JETBLUE from NYC.

try.
This will show you all the low cost airlines that will fly the route and hopefully you can find the best deal.
Good luck and all the best

For last min 260.00 sounds very good. Although I am not sure where you are traveling from.
You might have to just bite the bullet and buy the ticket now before the price goes up even more.

Call the airlines directly and tell them you need an emergency medical fare. This type of fare has an open return date, but it may cost you about $300.00. I used it a few years about when my sister had surgery.

Call the cheapest airline and explain your predicament. Sometimes they can offer a discount for something like this. Don’t be afraid to ask (politely!) for a supervisor or someone who can authorize it. The worst they can tell you is that they can’t discount it - the only time they do is for death.
